Flight 587 victims remembered during annual ceremony

The Bronx was host to an annual Flight 587 ceremony to honor those who died in the tragedy exactly 11 years ago.
Family and friends of the 265 victims gathered at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church for a moment of silence at the time a Dominican Republic-bound jet went down just moments after takeoff.
The memorial is usually held in Queens, but a massive fire in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy ravaged the neighborhood near the site of the airline crash, forcing it to be moved for the first time.
The official Flight 587 memorial in Belle Harbor was not damaged and the ceremony will return to that location next year.
