Circus member launches after-school program in the Bronx
A member of a Bronx circus troupe was back in the borough Friday launching a new after-school program in Melrose.
The King Charles Troupe is one of the longest-running acts in the Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus. The group of unicyclists got their start on the streets of the South Bronx, where they perfected their act that includes some basketball and comedy.
Member Kim Anthony Jones was at the NYCHA Classic Community Center on Friday where he was working on launching a new after-school program to teach unicycling and build character.
Jones says the program is a way to give back to the community and possibly find the future members of the troupe.
