Services, vigils begin for Cardinal Edward Egan

People from across the city are paying their respects today to former archbishop of New York, Cardinal Edward Egan.

Egan died last Thursday at the age of 82 after going into cardiac arrest. He retired in 2009 after nine years of leading the Archdiocese of New York.

A funeral will be held at the cathedral at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Cardinal Timothy Dolan, the current archbishop, will deliver the funeral Mass. Egan will be buried beneath the high altar.
