A new restaurant has opened at the former site of Lido's Restaurant and Catering in City Island.

Lido's was taken over by Paul Scavello in 2014. The restaurant had served as a City Island staple for decades.

The new restaurant, Scavello's on the Island, has received phenomenal feedback in the short time it has been open, according to Scavello. The location has a full-service restaurant that can accommodate up to 80 people, in addition to a wine bar and a brick oven for pizza.

Scavello says the other side of the space houses a banquet hall that holds about 400 people. There is also a ballroom that can accommodate about 200.

The Scavello family also owns a supermarket and catering business nearby, called Scavello's City Island.

Scavallo's on the Island currently employs 25 people, about half of whom are Bronx residents.
