Forum held to celebrate Latinas in comics
In honor of Women's History Month, a forum was held in the borough to celebrate female comic characters, writers, artists, and filmmakers of Hispanic descent.
The Latinas in Comics exhibition was hosted by Bronx Heroes and Lockett Down Productions at the Poe Park Visitor Center.
This is the third year that the panel has been held. Some of the keynote speakers included comic book industry veterans, web artists, editors and journalists.
The comic book industry has traditionally been a white male-dominated industry. However, with the growing popularity of comics and informative discussions, the landscape is changing to reflect a more diverse culture of artists.
In addition to the panel, over 50 pieces of work by Latinos in comic books were on display.
