Best of the Bronx: Teitel Bros. turns 100
Even though it's an Irish holiday, News 12 headed over to Little Italy where one Belmont staple is celebrating a landmark anniversary.
It's been 100 years, and customers are still picking out exactly what they want at the Teitel Brothers grocery store on Arthur Avenue.
Gil Teitel has been working in the family business since 1959, but the shop's roots date back to his dad and uncle who first came to the Bronx from Austria as tailors.
A century later, Teitel Brothers has its own brand of foods, including extra virgin olive oil and imported cheese.
It also has a very loyal group of customers, including one man who has been frequenting the shop for 15 years and another who stocks up weekly on Teitel Brothers products for two restaurants in Connecticut.
