Car break-ins plague Claremont residents

A rash of car break-ins near 172nd Street and Third Avenue in Claremont has residents on edge.
There have been five break-ins over the last month, and residents say the police have done little to help the situation.
Neighbors say they spend up to an hour looking for parking just to avoid the area.
Barbie Melendez says her car was broken into once, but her neighbors have had to go to the repair shop multiple times.
"They take your E-ZPass, they take phone chargers, whatever they can find," said Melendez. "I had some change in the front and they took about a dollars' worth of change. So anything that they can find, they'll take."
