Shuttered strip club gets closer to reopening
A strip club in Hunts Point that has been closed for nearly three years is one step closer to a reopening.
Platinum Pleasures on Lafayette Avenue shut down in 2012 after losing its liquor license following a number of alleged violent incidents.
However, a judge recently ruled that the state's Liquor Authority went too far in canceling the license and ordered a lesser penalty to be imposed.
Members of the community say they're disappointed with the ruling, telling the New York Law Journal that the quality of life has improved in the area since the club closed. Neighbors add that they will fight a reopening if necessary.
It's unclear how soon the club could get back its liquor license, or whether it now needs to re-apply.
