Some City Island residents are fired up over a decision not to relocate a firing range in their neighborhood.
The NYPD has scrapped a 2007 plan to move the Rodman's Neck Firing Range to Queens. Instead, it will not only remain in the Bronx, but it will also receive a $150 million expansion and upgrade.
People living nearby complain that noise from the range is deafening, but police say that planned improvements will include sound proofing.
Members of the City Island Civic Association have filed a request under the state's Freedom of Information Law to find out why the move didn't go forward.
In the meantime, neighbors say they'll keep the pressure on to make sure that installing sound barriers remains a top priority.
