Universal pre-Kindergarten hits City Island
As the push to grant access to universal pre-Kindergarten expands throughout the city, one of the newest programs is set to open on City Island.
Sen. Jeffrey Klein says the move should lift a weight from parents' pockets.
Beverly Jones says she's happy about the new program because paying for day care for her 3-year-old son Wyatt has placed a financial burden on her and her husband.
"We can see the light at the end of the tunnel now," she said.
Officials are urging parents to register children as soon as possible. The deadline is April 24.
