Fire damages Highbridge nail salon

A fire caused extensive damage to a nail salon in Highbridge Sunday afternoon.

The flames broke out at 963 Ogden Ave. FDNY crews were able to extinguish the blaze in about 40 minutes.

Angelica Molina, who works at a salon next door, says the businesses along the stretch of road were busy at the time, which caused everyone to run outside. She says the smoke was so thick that she could not even see across the street.

The salon's super was at the scene Monday to survey the damage. He says that he is unsure whether the business will reopen.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
