A recent study by the Nestle Research Center says that skipping lunch is a relatively common practice among children and adolescents.
Out of the more than 3,500 young people surveyed, 13 percent of kids between the ages of 4 and 8 skip their midday meal, and 17 percent of kids aged 9-13 skip theirs. In that same age group, 25 percent didn't eat lunch on weekends either.
News 12 hit the streets to ask residents if their kids skip lunch.
Researchers say missing out on lunch also means missing out on the nutrients that come along with it. They say they hope this study leads to new ways to encourage kids and teens to consume a healthy midday meal.
