Friends, family mourn teen who died after fall from building
Hundreds gathered Monday to say goodbye to a Bronx teen who died after falling off a six-story building.
Investigators say 17-year-old Hakeem Kuta fell to his death while trying to run from police.
Officials say they were initially informed about a group of teens smoking marijuana at 2685 Valentine Ave. last Thursday. When police went to confront them, they say that two of the teens, including Kuta, ran up to the roof. While trying to escape, investigators say Kuta lost his balance and fell six floors into the alley below.
Kuta was rushed to St. Barnabas Hospital, but died of his injuries a few days later on Saturday.
Family members say Kuta was a good kid who never had any problems. They plan to march Wednesday where the incident happened to demand justice and answers.
