Death of building worker reclassified as a homicide

Police say the death of a building superintendent in Tremont has been reclassified as a homicide.

As News 12 reported, the body of 45-year-old Israel Ramos-Lopez was found in his apartment at 22-75 Morris Ave. Monday morning.

Ramos, who worked at the building for 20 years, lived in the same building but a different apartment from his wife and stepson. The stepson told News 12 that he was informed Sunday night that his stepfather was having an argument with his roommate after a night of heavy drinking.

He says that he called police to the scene, but Ramos did not answer the door.

Police say that they found his Ramos' body in the bedroom of his apartment, with a cut to his head. Ramos was pronounced dead at the scene.
