School offers yoga classes to help students de-stress
Girls Prep Elementary School in the Bronx has added yoga classes to its curriculum.
During the classes, students practice breathing, focusing and talking about their feelings.
All students are required to take the yoga class three times a week for 45 minutes. The program has been going on for six years, and teachers say that it's one of the only required yoga programs for grade-schoolers in the city.
Parents and teachers say they have noticed a huge difference in the students' behavior. They say that they've become more mindful and expressive of their feelings.
Girls who have taken the classes say that yoga helps them to release stress and frustration.
