Ghost ride honors killed cyclists, pedestrians
A fleet of people biked around the borough Sunday to honor pedestrians and cyclists who were hit and killed on the streets in 2014.
The 10th annual Ghost Bike Memorial Ride began at the Bronx County Courthouse. About 40 riders pushed their pedals to the Grand Concourse and East 158th Street, where a painted memorial bike was installed last year.
Riders say they participated to remember loved ones they have lost. They also hoped to raise awareness for road safety.
Ghost rides were also held in Queens and Brooklyn, with riders stopping at 21 memorial bikes.
