Armed man barricades himself inside Melrose home

Police swarmed Findlay Avenue in Melrose Thursday after learning a man armed with a knife barricaded himself inside an apartment.

Police blocked off a portion of the street making it tough for those trying to get to work and school. They even inflated a special cushion just in case the person tried to jump. Police then used a special camera to try and see into the apartment.

One neighbor said it was crazy to wake up and see all the police units.

The area was shut down for more than an hour. Eventually police and EMS crews took the man out in restraints on a stretcher. Police say the 26-year-old was taken to Lincoln Hospital.
