No repairs in sight for hazardous step-street
Bronx residents are still waiting for a repairs to a public stairway that they say is not only an eyesore, but also a serious safety hazard.
Missing concrete, broken steps and exposed steel beams are just some of the issues at the step street, which connects Teller and Clay avenues at East 168th Street.
Plans were in the works last year to give the crumbling staircase connector a $2 million facelift, but so far nothing has been done.
Many say the stairs are especially worrisome because parents and kids take them daily to get to P.S. 53.
