Last-minute shoppers pick up Mother's Day gifts

Residents around the city were out picking up last-minute gifts for Mother's Day Sunday.
Hundreds went to Giordano's Pelham Bay Florist on Crosby Avenue to buy flowers for their mom and other loved ones.
The mom-and-pop shop has been around for 80 years. Customers says it is a staple of the neighborhood, and is their go-to store for all floral needs.
This Mother's Day marks the first that the Giordano's is being run by Michael Uva. The family-owned business was previously run by Liz Leduc for five years before passing down ownership to her son in January.
Leduc and Uva also renovated the florist for the first time, giving it new flooring, walls and a window display.
