A group of New York City's EMS workers were honored Wednesay at this year's "Second Chance Ceremony."
The first responders met with 11 people whose lives they'd saved.
Gabriel Hernandez is one of the people who were saved. He collapsed on a Bronx street in March.
Rookie EMT Fernando Frias, on the job for only a week, gave him CPR. Two other paramedics arrived and were able to revive Hernandez.
"This is what we train for, and this is what we do," says Luke Hardcastle, one of the paramedics.
Officials say that emergency responders only rarely meet again with the people they've saved.
