Hero cops honored for saving student's life
Officers of NYPD Transit Disctrict 11 got a standing ovation Thursday at All Hallows High School for saving the life of a student.
According to witnesses, 17-year-old Christopher Vacca went into cardiac arrest on April 27.
Officers Richard Dixon, Chris Contreras and Thomas Donahue were in the area at the time of the incident and quickly sprang into action.
The officers revived Vacca with CPR and a defibrillator.
Thursday's event is part of the school's annual End of the Year Awards ceremony.
Vacca had open heart surgery last week and the officers, who keep in touch with the boy, say he is doing much better.
Vacca could not attend the event.
