Police: 12-year-old injured in hit-and-run

Police are searching for a man they say ran down a 12-year-old and then fled the scene.

They say last Saturday the suspect was driving a grey Mazda SUV on Logan Avenue in Throgs Neck, not far from Dewey Avenue, when he hit the boy.

Officials say the driver then stopped to check on the boy but then left without calling 911.

The boy had serious injuries and was taken to Jacobi Medical Center, where he remains in stable condition.
