Nurse practitioner inducted into NYS Veterans Hall of Fame

A veteran, single mother of three and nurse practitioner was inducted into New York State's Veterans Hall of Fame.

Analiza Benjamin went to Afghanistan in 2012, leaving her three children back home for nearly a year.

As part of the U.S. Navy's nursing division, she cared for not only U.S. soldiers, but also the Afghani people.

Benjamin is the first women inducted into the Hall of Fame by Bronx Sen. Jeff Klein. She says that she hopes her induction will lead to more women being inducted.

Benjamin is currently a senior nursing director at Jacobi Medical Center in Pelham Parkway.

The Hall of Fame is made up of veterans throughout the state whoave served in war and in times of peace.
