Police: 7-year-old girl injured in hit-and-run
Police say 7-year-old girl was injured in a hit-and-run that occurred during a Memorial Day party Sunday night.
According to authorities, the driver of a black Jeep Wrangler fled westbound on East 214th Street toward Bronxwood Avenue after hitting a girl who was trying to cross the street at around 10 p.m.
The child suffered broken bones in her legs, hip and pelvis. She is recovering at Jacobi Medical Center.
A cousin of the girl told News 12 that she was under adult supervision when she crossed the street to get ice cream. He says the girl was hit by a female driver, who stopped at first but fled when approached by family members.
