Attempted rape suspect caught on camera

Police have released surveillance video of the man who they say attempted to rape a young woman in the Bronx earlier this week.

The incident happened on East 161st Street, near the Grand Concourse, at around 5 a.m. Tuesday, just yards away from Bronx Supreme Court.

The 24-year-old victim told officers that she was thrown to the ground while walking down the street. She says the man got on top of her and lifted her skirt before running away.

The suspect is described as being about 6 feet tall with a medium build. He was last seen wearing a red and white striped short-sleeve shirt, light-colored jeans, white sneakers and a baseball hat.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
