3 students hospitalized after taking prescription pills in class

Some West Farms parents got a startling phone call Thursday morning from their children's elementary school saying that some students ingested prescription drugs in class.
The incident took place at P.S. 6 West Farms Elementary School on Tremont Avenue.
According to Flor Santana, a grandmother of one of the three second-graders who ingested the pills, one of the students smuggled the high dosage anti-depressant pills into the school. She says that they ingested the pills while the teacher was present in the classroom.
The Department of Education says that the three students have been treated and released from the hospital.
A parent of one of the students who took the pills says that the school did file a police report, but others say that they were not notified of the incident.
The DOE says that it is investigating the situation.
