BP calls for taxi probe after Bronx service refusal
Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. is calling for a wider investigation of city taxis after the mayor of San Juan was recently denied service to the Bronx.
As News 12 reported last week, Mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz was trying to take a yellow cab from Manhattan to her hotel in the Bronx when she says the driver refused to go to the borough and kicked her out.
Cruz says a second taxi driver did end up taking her, but complained about the trip the entire time.
Diaz now wants the New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission to take action. In a letter to the agency, he calls the actions illegal and questions how many others are refusing service to the Bronx, possibly impacting local businesses and tourism.
