Bronx residents enjoy free classical music concert
The Bronx may be known as the birthplace of hip-hop, but on Sunday, it was all about classical music.
The Bronx Symphony Orchestra held a concert at Lehman College, and attendees didn't have to pay anything to enjoy the sounds.
Many say they worry that younger generations don't have the same appreciation for classical music that older generations do. However, the orchestra is helping to change that with its free symphony and opera events held twice each year.
Financial support to keep the orchestra playing is provided by the Bronx Council of the Arts and private donors.
