7 suspects wanted in beating of deli worker

Police are searching for a total of seven people in connection with the brutal beating of a deli worker in Mount Hope.

Investigators have released surveillance video of the violent assault and robbery, which happened inside a deli at 2039 Grand Concourse, near East Burnside Avenue, at around 11 p.m. back on May 27.

According to the authorities, the suspects are seen taking items from the refrigerators and store shelves, and then attempting to leave without paying. The clerk tries to stop the group, but they begin throwing things at him, and then punching him all over his body and head.

While police are searching for the seven suspects, the owner told News 12 there were at least 12 people waiting outside, almost as if they were standing watch.

Cops are urging anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
