Knicks star scores with new courts in Soundview
There are some happy kids in Soundview Thursday thanks to the help of a famous Knicks player.
Carmelo Anthony was on hand at the James Monroe Houses for the ribbon-cutting ceremony to unveil the newly renovated basketball courts. The Carmelo Anthony Foundation worked with the New York City Housing Authority to install custom Melo backboards and paint new free throw lines.
The kids were excited to meet the star player and thank him for the new courts. After cutting the ribbon, Anthony said the courts belong to the community.
Anthony's foundation has also renovated courts in Red Hook, Brooklyn and Coney Island. It's all part of a project called Courts for Kids.
