Summer Reading Challenge kicks off in the Bronx

Kids throughout the Bronx are being called on to pick up a book this summer as the New York Public Library kicks off its annual Summer Reading Challenge.
Kids are asked to read at least 20 minutes a day as part of the challenge. Some kids say that's no problem, while others say it takes a little push from their parents to get them to pick up a book.
Some parents say getting their kids to read can be tough especially if it's an area that they struggle in. Experts say kids who don't read during the summer can actually drop a grade level in reading skills. They recommend parents visit their local library and ask the reading specialist for help.
Parents are also encouraged to make time to read with their kids. Whether it's a book, a newspaper or a magazine, experts say it's important to get your kids reading.
