Students celebrate Flag Day with NYPD, FDNY

Throgs Neck students celebrated Flag Day with NYPD, FDNY and members of the armed forces Friday morning.

This Sunday is Flag Day, which commemorates the adoption of the U.S. flag back in the 1770s.

About 700 students planted flags on the lawn during a Flag Day ceremony and Liberty Lawn Dedication at The Edward R Byrne Campus. The students also watched a flag-folding ceremony alongside members of the FDNY, NYPD and the armed forces.

The schools also created monuments to honor historic people, places and events.
