Residents fight new motel construction
Construction of a Days Inn on Bruckner Boulevard is infuriating some Castle Hill residents who say they will fight the building to the end, even if that means going to court.
Members of the Castle Hill Neighborhood Betterment Association and other community members attended a town hall meeting Saturday to discuss the project.
Construction began on the building last summer, but the association was able to get a stop-work order issued. That order has since been lifted.
Some community leaders say the motel will do more harm than good and could become a breeding ground for drugs, prostitution and more.
The association also says it wants more transparency from the city about the project, including why the stop-work order was lifted.
