LG Electronics, critics resolve dispute over planned tower
An agreement on the height of the LG Electronics headquarters set to be built in New Jersey has been reached after nearly a year of debate.
The original plan called for the building in Englewood Cliffs to be eight stories high at 143 feet. The agreement announced Tuesday calls for a five-story north wing that will be just shy of 70 feet in height. There will also be a three-story south wing.
Elected officials had feared the building would compromise the view of the Palisades, which is a natural New Jersey landmark and sight enjoyed by those in New York City.
Ground is expected to be broken on the site by next year.
