New playground opens at Community School 300
Students at Community School 300 are excited about the opening of a brand-new, state-of-the-art playground at their school.
While the new playground will include expected features such as a jungle gym and basketball court, it also has one special feature designed to keep the community green.
The playground's artificial turf actually acts as a giant sponge absorbing rainwater to water the onsite garden, which is also brand-new.
Officials say it'll collect about 700,000 gallons of stormwater on average each year.
The playground, which was both privately and city-funded, will be open to the public after school hours and on weekends, holidays and school vacations.
