MTA announces RFK Bridge toll plaza reconstruction

Trips over the RFK Bridge are about to get a lot more congested.

The MTA announced on Thursday plans to replace the toll plaza.

The $213 million project is expected to last around 54 months.

The lanes will include both cash and E-ZPass options, but will be fitted to make way for a fully electronic system should the MTA decide to eliminate cash lanes in the future.

Utilities and LED roadway lighting will also be included in the project.
