Fire damages apartments at the Edenwald Houses

Tenants are picking up the pieces after a fire ripped through a building at the Edenwald Houses.

Dozens of firefighters rushed to 1128 East 229th St. at around 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Officials say it started on the second floor and spread quickly, damaging six apartments.

Most of the residents weren't home at the time, but those who were escaped uninjured. However, one family lost a pet.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
