Police ID 1 of 2 men found dead in apartment

Authorities have identified one of two men who were found dead inside a Mount Eden apartment.

The victims were discovered at around 4 p.m. Thursday in the Rockwood Hall apartment complex on the Grand Concourse.

According to police, 67-year-old George Benitez was discovered in his bedroom with trauma to his torso. They say the other victim, whose name has not yet been released, was found lying in a hallway in the apartment with injuries to his back and neck.

Both men were unresponsive and unconscious when help arrived, and were declared dead at the scene.

No arrests have been made. Neighbors say there are surveillance cameras both inside and outside the building that they hope will help catch whoever is responsible.
