Teens give Tremont supermarket a healthy makeover

Some south Bronx teens are giving a supermarket in their neighborhood a healthy makeover.
Teen ambassadors from the city's Eatwise program took over the C-Town supermarket in Tremont on East Burnside Avenue, to highlight the healthy choices the store has to offer. The teens took a look at the store's equipment and inventory to make the produce section more prominent. They also put up signs and decals to promote the healthiest items in the store.
The goal of the supermarket makeover is to increase the access to healthy food and make residents more aware of the food choices they make.
"A good number of the interns live in this neighborhood. So they're actually working in their own communities to do the store makeovers and make healthy food more accessible to the entire south Bronx community," says Caitlin Fitzpatrick from the Good Bank For New York City.
The group plans to make over six supermarkets in total by the end of the summer.
