City's public advocate condemns shootings
Two people were killed and at least a dozen people were injured in several shooting incidents across the city overnight.
As News 12 has reported, one of those shootings took place in the Bronx. A 20-year-old was fatally shot at a playground in Soundview, and two others were injured.
In Brooklyn, nine people were injured in a shooting at a house party in the East New York section. A man was also found shot to death in Brooklyn's Fort Greene section. And in yet another incident, a 15-year-old was injured in a separate Brooklyn shooting, this time in Prospect Lefferts Gardens.
The bloodshed prompted the city's Public Advocate Letitia James to comment. In a statement, she said, "Last night... separate shooting incidents shook our city. These senseless acts of violence took two lives. My thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their families."
The statement continued, "As a city and as a country, we must do more to take guns off our streets, and end the madness that continues to bring death and destruction."
