City Island residents are searching for a homeowner who they say has ruined their residential block with his rundown property.

Neighbors living next door to a rusty, boarded up, abandoned house at 179 Hawkins St. say the house has been decaying in its yard for five years.

Neighbors say the property itself has trash everywhere, is overgrown with weeds, and houses three abandoned cars.

Those who spoke with News 12 were concerned about the house being a fire hazard and hot spot for criminal activity.

The Department of Building's website lists a man named Peter Mincieli as the owner. Members of the City Island Civic Association says he ignores his property and ignores all of their attempts at reaching out.

News 12 showed up to multiple properties listed under the homeowner's name, but he was not at any.
