New commanding officer plans to combat BX violence
The new commanding officer of the NYPD's 43rd Precinct has plans to combat violence in the Bronx.
Deputy Inspector Fausto Pichardo says that his position is not all about working from behind the desk, especially now that elected officials say shootings are on the rise in the 43rd Precinct.
Pichardo has over 15 years of experience in the NYPD, holding every position from lieutenant to captain. He says that he has already built relationships with Bronx residents who he believes can help him make changes in the borough.
The 43rd Precinct just received smartphones to use on the job. Pichardo says that this is just another tool they can use to help keep their co-workers safe and find out what's really going on in the neighborhood.
