Dancers showed off their skills during their end-of-camp performance in the Bronx.
After six weeks of practicing, more than 100 campers from the Alvin Ailey Dance Camp performed at the Hostos Community Theater.
For a quarter century, the camp has been using dance as a way to teach self-esteem, discipline and creativity to its students in the inner city.
"The mission of Ailey Camp is to provide a quality arts program to young people ages 11 to 14 and to get them to explore their creative side while teaching them about Alvin Ailey and his legacy," said Nasha Thomas, national director of Ailey Camp.
Campers who performed said that their performance was a result of their overall hard work and determination.
