Residents enjoy Bronx outdoor garden
Tucked away amid the bustling city streets is a green oasis that many Bronx residents enjoy.
Bissel Gardens is a two-acre garden in the Wakefield section of the Bronx that includes two propagation areas, a children's garden, a practical community garden and a farmers market at the end of the trail.
More than 40 different fruits and vegetables can be found throughout the gardens, from a common zucchini to a rare white eggplant.
Hailey Cotto started as a volunteer at the gardens and now serves as a program director for summer youth employment.
Cotto says Bissel Gardens is a great way to enjoy the outdoors without leaving the city.
