Firefighters were at the scene of an apartment fire on Sunday in which a man jumped from a window.
The fire is believed to have started on the second floor of a three-story residential building at 2000 Mapes Ave. near East 178th Street at 9:18 p.m.
Witnesses say the man jumped from a third-story rear window, breaking his arm in the process. He was transported to St. Barnabas Hospital in stable condition.
Another person sustained minor injuries, according to officials.
Two dogs were taken out in cages. Their owner wasn't home at the time of the fire, but she said she is grateful that her animals are OK.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
