Construction is underway on a new Macy's discount store on East Fordham Road.
Macy's is launching Macy's Backstage in New York City. Macy's officials say Backstage is a pilot discount store that offers between 20 to 80 percent off original prices.
The store is not only expected to bring discounts to the area, but also jobs. Each store is expected to hire a staff of 30-45 associates.
The store, which is set to open in the fall, is located at a Fordham Place building, which used to house another department store.
