A father and son wrapped up their 3,200-mile cross-country trek at Orchard Beach in the Bronx, and it was all for a good cause. 

Shaun Evans and his son Shamus traveled 60 miles a day for 60 days. The journey's conclusion provided a sense of triumph for 9-year-old Shamus, who has cerebral palsy.

The coast-to-coast run first started when the younger Evans received a freedom chair from Ainsley Angels of American, a nonprofit that provides mobility for disabled people.

Shaun Evans says he was so moved by the gift that he decided to begin his own quest on July 4. With his son in tow, Evans pushed through every mile from Seattle to New York to raise money for freedom chairs for disabled children. Twenty chairs were donated during the two-month run.

The father-son team says they plan to continue their mission of giving back with marathons in Virginia and Washington, D.C.
