Longwood residents bemoan new traffic pattern
A group of Longwood residents met with the city's Department of Transportation Wednesday to raise concerns over the conversion of a one-way road into a narrow strip with traffic in both directions.
They say the road was changed after the city installed a traffic circle on Intervale Avenue.
A spokesman for the DOT says that the block was prone to speeding and that the two-way conversion helps calm traffic.
Local drivers say the intersection has become a nightmare. They complain that motorists are making illegal left-hand turns and that some are even entering one-way streets heading in the wrong direction.
News 12 cameras witnessed drivers ignoring "right turn only" signs.
There are several schools in the area, and residents say they want things back the way they were.
