Authorities: Shooting suspect shot by police while fleeing scene

An investigation is underway after a man was shot in the arm Friday morning on Madison Street in Brooklyn.
Police responded to a call of shots being fired around 1 a.m. that started on Jefferson Avenue. 
The 52-year-old victim was near Knickerbocker Avenue and was taken to Elmhurst Hospital.
Police found the suspect between Evergreen and Bushwick Avenue and followed him after he fled the scene.
According to police, the suspect shot at officers, and was shot in the leg after police returned fire. He has been taken to Kings County Hospital and said to be in stable condition.
Six police officers are also being treated at hospitals for ringing in the ears.
There has been no word on the suspect's identity or if charges have been made.
