Cleanup efforts begin in 'drug den' area

A drug den under the Sheridan Expressway has been gutted.

As News 12 first reported, the area was covered with garbage, syringes and other drug paraphernalia.

Nearly two weeks after that initial report, the cleanup efforts have begun in the area and neighbors say they are thankful to see the problem being resolved.

Officials with the Department of Homeless Services say the cleanup should be completed by Tuesday.

They also say police will monitor the area for any illegal activity.
